When Jesus said these words, “Anything is possible for those who believe” (Mark 9:23) He was saying it to His closest companions. He said it to the disciples that felt ill equipped for the task before them. That task was the deliverance of a boy tormented by a demon. The torment could have been mental illness, extreme rebellion, violent behavior or any other way the demon was wanting to destroy the boy.

When the disciples couldn’t deliver the boy from the demon that was controlling him(v18), Jesus came and said to the people (v19) “bring the boy to me”. Bringing the boy to Jesus the father of the boy asks Jesus to have mercy on the boy and help him, ‘if Jesus can’ (v22). Jesus hears the doubt of the man through the question he asked...’if you can?’ Jesus answers, ‘Anything is possible if a person believes’ (Jesus) v23 (NLT).

Two things to take away from this account of Jesus life:

First, the disciples were not able to deliver the boy because they did not have the Holy Spirit of Christ in them. They were no match against the demon. Not until Jesus ascended into Heaven and sent the Holy Spirit do we see the disciples doing ‘greater things than these’ like Jesus.

Second, Jesus tells the man so all could hear, ‘bring the boy to me’. When faced with a demonic person or a sickness or anything that is impossible for you or anyone else...’bring it to Jesus’. You have the Spirit of Jesus in you...bring it to Jesus. ‘Anything is possible if a person believes’ Jesus.

Anything is possible when we ‘bring the needs to Jesus’! Jesus can fix it. Believe Jesus.
