ETERNAL LIFE
/In Him was life and the the Life was the Light of [humanity] men. John 1:4
When God tells us about ‘life’ eternal He is not talking about the life in our bodies and the breath in our lungs, although this present time that we occupy the earth is a segment of eternity, whether eternal life or eternal death. God has put eternity in us.
When Jesus talks about ‘life’ He means, this is who Jesus is. Jesus is eternal life. In John 14 Jesus says, I am the way, the truth and the life.
So Eternal Life is a Person and that Person is Jesus. If you have had a ‘born from above’ experience with Jesus then the Life of God-Himself is in you. You have become the house of Holy Eternal Life. Before you were dead in your transgressions but now your spirit has ‘life’ because Jesus, the life that is the light of humanity has come from outside of you to inside of you, and resides in your spirit. The ‘life’ of God is within you.
How does this help us? First, it gives us perspective to know that everything we experience is only a small segment in comparison to eternity.
What is one month when compared to eternity?
Think about it! What is one week when compared to forever? So, when you face trials, tough times or good times these experiences are but momentary in comparison to eternity that is in you.
Your ‘life’ is with Jesus for much longer than with your present situation. Everything we do on this earth is but momentary so seize the moment. Make the best of your ‘life’. Second, it keeps our eyes on eternal things instead of every issue that comes your way. Eternal life gives us perspective to know we are not in control of our ‘life’. The Sovereign one that is in me is my GPS. and where He leads I will go.
Lastly, The Life eternal that is in you let’s you know you are accountable for life. What are you doing with the ‘life’ of Jesus in you? Are you spending your time or investing the ‘life’ that was entrusted to you?
While you are here on this earth would you consider investing the ‘life’ of Jesus by telling of this great ‘life’. This is a great ‘life’ and it’s meant to be given to people. Pray and let the ‘life’ that is in you lead you to one that has no ‘life’ and speak about your ‘life’... and watch the miracle of ‘life’ take place.
