NO ATHEISTS IN FOX HOLES

In Psalm 14:1 the psalmist writes from his experience, “The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God.'" When someone says there is no God they are living a lie. They have been convinced or convinced themselves that there is no other to whom they must give account for their life other than themselves.

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20.

Truly, Divine Design is apparent. We are created by a well intentioned Heavenly Father.
Like the account of many military men that have fought in battles and have survived, when they recount the minutes before the gun battle begins. While waiting alone in their foxhole (literally a hole in the ground) armed with a limited amount of ammunition and a gun. Waiting for the first glimpse of a target. Knowing he is out numbered. Basically waiting to die. Helpless and hopeless God the Creator and Life giver becomes real and in focus in a foxhole .

Whether in a fox hole or a hospital bed with a terminal illness or in a lifestyle that leaves you no hope.

For anyone that feels you are alone and no one is there for you. Consider this poem. As Quoted by R. Zacharias, 'Why Jesus?’

Look God, I have never spoken to you
But now I want to say, “How do you do?”
You see, they had told me you didn’t exist
And like a fool I believed all this
Last night from a shell hole I saw your sky
I figured right then they had told me a lie
Had I taken time to see the things you made
I’d known they weren’t calling a spade a spade
I wonder, God, if you would take my hand
Somehow I seem to feel you’ll understand
It’s funny, I had to come to this hellish place
Before I had the time to see your face
I guess that there isn’t much more to say
But I am so glad that I met you today
I guess that the zero hour will soon be here
But I’m not afraid, since I know you’re near
The signal; well, I guess I’ll have to go
I like you lots and I want you to know
Look, now I’m goin’ into the fight
I look now I’m crying, me shedding tears
I wish I had known you these many years
Well, I have to go now,
I’ll say good-bye
Strange, since I met you,
I’m not afraid to die.

As we reflect on those that gave their lives in battle, let us remember today the great sacrifice of the Savior Jesus. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” Jn. 15:13. Jesus did one better. He laid down His life for His enemies so they would know the depth of the love of God. He won the battle for your soul so you could experience the greatest purpose for your life. That purpose is to know and live out the will of God your Creator. Will you ask Him into your heart today? Pray.
